Into Colorful Colorado

The ride has been along the old high way that shadows the South Platte river. Trains run through here , the Pony express used this route and so did hundreds of thousands of wagon train pioneers on their way to Oregon and California. There is a lot of history in this valley that the Platte river runs through. Indian wars were being fought here during the Civil War and into the later 1800’s.

Started earlier this morning and beat the wind and heat of the afternoon. Got lucky when I rode into Brule and discovered the Brule Day. Got in on a pancake breakfast  I didn’t stay for the parade, but I got to see a ton of antique cars on the way to the parade as I rode.
